The program gives participants the opportunity to focus and reflect on their own humanity, and their inner resources such as choice, hope, and dignity. Rather than describing or defining personal peace, the program empowers individuals to reach their own understanding. Everyone can benefit. The program has proven effective in a variety of settings including community centers, youth groups, schools, adult education programs, veterans’ groups, healthcare settings, senior centers, homeless shelters, drug rehabilitation facilities, and correctional facilities.
The Peace Education Programme (PEP) was introduced in Malaysia in 2008, and in the last 14 years hundreds of Malaysians from students, homemakers to businesspeople, academicians have enjoyed going through the unique programme that empowers people with the unique lessons it offers.
Apart from its successful runs in academic institutions and universities, the Peace Education Program is also conducted in corporate settings and uniformed bodies like the Scouts Association of Malaysia. In 2022, The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) further signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Scouts Association of Malaysia to enable the programme to be run for scouts in the country.
The following are snapshots of some of the past, as well recent and ongoing Peace Education Program related events in the various parts of Malaysia.
